Pink Flowers on a Silk Garden Dress Hi readers. It’s been a busy week. Even so, it’s important to keep working on this weeks project which I set aside for the hat decoration art project. This weeks’ dress is once again from the same pattern Simplicity pattern # 2178 Cynthia Rowley collection. I made some changes on the pattern. I lowered the bodice to the natural waistline and replaced the skirt. It makes for a relaxed feel and look. The sewing went a lot faster, seeing I already had the pattern figured out from last weeks sewing experience. The fabric is once again silk. Really beautiful. I need to stop spoiling myself with these silk pieces. I know if I had to pay full price from the roll of fabric, I would not be able to afford it. Tomorrow lets see if I can finish it. No promises. After all it’s the 4th of July.

I don’t usually blog during the week. As a matter of fact, I’m more into sewing than bloggin. But tonight it’s different! Tonight, I have an inspiration that can’t wait. Tonight, I went to Joann’s fabrics and bought this beautiful fabric to make this spring coat that I have been dreaming about since spring arrived. You see, spring is here, but it’s still cold! And I need a spring coat,  but I want it to be special. And sew, I think that this nautical fabric mixed in with jean fabric is it. It is a perfect fit for New England. I’m going to make this and when I’m done…I’m going to make my husband drive me all the way to Cape Cod to take pictures of me wearing this coat, so you can see how fitting this coat is going to be for New England! Ah, isn't life “sew” special!

Honeycomb Smocking Dress Hello everyone! I’ve been working on this dress for some time now. I never thought I could take so long in making a dress, but I have. First, I pleated the material and then I cut the dress. I kind of made it up as I went along. The dress was too big at the waist, so I decided to smock it. It’s a long process. It was the first time I’ve ever did anything like it. I had no idea where I was going with it. But that’s what makes it exciting. Overall, I’m pleased with it. I’m just tired of looking at it. I still have two more rows of smocking at the waist and I want to make a matching purse. And when I’ve completed this dress, I will be putting it away and hopefully only look at it next winter. I don’t have anything lined up right now for a new project. Which is a good thing. I want my sewing adventures to be fun and un-expecting. 30 Dresses “FOR THE LOVE OF MOTHER”

I’m still in the process of trying to count all the dresses I made in the past year. To date I counted 30. In case you missed any, here’s all the pictures of them. There is still more to come. Some of which I haven’t had an opportunity to wear yet. At the end of this week, I will hopefully display two more dresses from this week’s project bringing the count to 32. I’m blessed with dresses. Each and every one of them I made while caring for my mother. She spent her whole life as a professional seamstress. Today, at eighty she is demented and requires 24/7 care. Even so, she loves to watch me sew. She connects to life through my sewing. She can still pick out an uneven hemline and express when she doesn’t think a dress fits well. Best of all, she loves to watch me get dressed and smile at how beautiful they look. Her face just lights up with joy. Everyone of my dresses is part of our time and story together.
