Simple Wrap Skirt

Hello sewing friends. Here’s my latest project. Just another simple wrap skirt that I just finished today. I had fun making the matching clutch bag. I used the left over zipper for a designer strip along the middle flab. I thought it would add a nice golden touch and add a richer texture to the bag. Overall, I used the same pattern from last week. The fabric is wool from Bedford Fabrics in Fall River. I love the color of the lining too. Bright and cheery for the long cold winter ahead. The turtle neck sweater is store bought. No big deal. Just something I picked up this week. Well, that’s it for now. I hope all of you have a great weekend. See you all soon! Debora

Honeycomb Smocking Dress Hello everyone! I’ve been working on this dress for some time now. I never thought I could take so long in making a dress, but I have. First, I pleated the material and then I cut the dress. I kind of made it up as I went along. The dress was too big at the waist, so I decided to smock it. It’s a long process. It was the first time I’ve ever did anything like it. I had no idea where I was going with it. But that’s what makes it exciting. Overall, I’m pleased with it. I’m just tired of looking at it. I still have two more rows of smocking at the waist and I want to make a matching purse. And when I’ve completed this dress, I will be putting it away and hopefully only look at it next winter. I don’t have anything lined up right now for a new project. Which is a good thing. I want my sewing adventures to be fun and un-expecting. Tonight it’s Different

I don’t usually blog during the week. As a matter of fact, I’m more into sewing than bloggin. But tonight it’s different! Tonight, I have an inspiration that can’t wait. Tonight, I went to Joann’s fabrics and bought this beautiful fabric to make this spring coat that I have been dreaming about since spring arrived. You see, spring is here, but it’s still cold! And I need a spring coat,  but I want it to be special. And sew, I think that this nautical fabric mixed in with jean fabric is it. It is a perfect fit for New England. I’m going to make this and when I’m done…I’m going to make my husband drive me all the way to Cape Cod to take pictures of me wearing this coat, so you can see how fitting this coat is going to be for New England! Ah, isn't life “sew” special!

VOGUE  V9266                                                                                                                             Hello sewing fans!    Here is another dress using the same pattern by Vogue V9266. https:// voguepatterns.mccall.com / v9266 This time around, I made raglan sleeves and added a turtle neck collar. The material is a weave mix of silk and wool. You can tell it holds well and has a beautiful shine and texture. I’m extremely happy with it. It’s one of those dresses you can wear just about anywhere and will last a lifetime. I have some more pieces from this same pattern that I hope to post soon.
